This year I added a new con to the roster, and that was Rhode Island Comic Con. It was the con's first year and they had a magnificent turn out. Of course, being a new con they have some bumps they need to work out, i.e. traffic in the vendors' room with all the autographs and so on, and perhaps some of the event organizations. The things that sort of sucked that were not the con's fault were the other events taking place in the convention center started setting up before the comic con was over and were not very nice about it. They Beerfest folks would wonder through our event and look around, take pictures of the costumes and try to get in the rooms, but when we had to exit the con center, the security gave us a lot of crap for asking them to move their barricade so we could get out. It was pretty awkward. Also, the registration was a bit wonky, we bought tickets for each day, but just ended up getting a wristband, so we only needed one?
On the bright side, it was really great getting a full dose of the costumes I don't usually get to interact with. I hung out with the crowd I don't usually get to spend time with as well, which was incredibly fun. THey are a good, fun bunch of people who make some wonderful costumes and really bring them to life. The location of the con was great, there was a lot of available places to eat around, we didn't have huge liens of the restaurants, and got to spend some quality time with
and some grand ol' villain time with
in her fabulous Loki costume! I also learned how competitive comic cons are costume wise, and that was a little bit off-putting, only for my personal opinion. I heard some friends project that a lot of the same cosplayers win, and that really sucks for them since they make such amazing and elaborate costumes.
I shall consider this con in my planning for next year! Though, as pretty as the hotel was, I might not go overnight again since it is so close to home. It was awesome of
and his lovely lady to let us stay in their room.
AAC (Another Anime Con) got moved to a new location this year which worked way better than last year! That is a fun con to just hang out and relax at, especially dinners with
and
who took some awesome photos! I also FINALLY got the amazing opportunity to work with the stunning
as Harley with myself as Lady Joker! The heels were a bit of a struggle after having a broken my foot only 3 or four weeks prior, but that is what ice-packs are for <3. TO all of Nikki's fans, you picked an awesome person to support. She really knows her angles and makes a photoshoot relaxing and incredibly fun. She is a great friend, awesome cosplayer, and an unbelievable human being! Keep up the stunning work XD
As for 2013!
Katsucon is just around the riverbend! This is priobably my second favorite con and I am ready for all the excitement. I really miss my One Piece broskis like
, all the folks at East Blue Cosplay and the amazing folks at Baroque Works. I hope to see you all and perhaps collaborate for some photos! To the con, I plan on bring 4 costumes, two versions of Momiji from Binbougami-ga (nurse and God of misfortune) as well as Marineford Monkey D. Luffy and Pre Water 7 Nico Robin to match my boyfriend (Our Tiem Skip Brook and my Hades) in his Aokiji admiral's costume!
This year brings a lot of promising costumes, and good times with everyone in our bundle of misfits cosplay group with Movie Z versions of the STrawhats coming for AB and Otakon!
